St Dennis Band 2019 Awards

By stdennisband

On December 17th, the band held it’s 2019 awards presentation evening on Zoom. It was great to get all 3 bands, respective families, MD’s, committee and friends together ahead of the Christmas period to finally celebrate success from the previous year. Congratulations to all of the award recipients.

The awards were as follows…

Training Band (awarded by Linda Trethewey)

Player of the Year – Scarlett Osborne
Most Improved Player of the Year – Sophie Bates

Youth Ensemble (awarded by Darren R. Hawken and Linda Trethewey)

Player of the Year – Lia Teague
Most Improved Player of the Year – Amy Bristow

Senior Band (awarded by Darren. R. Hawken)

Youth Player of the Year – Grace Thomas
Jenny Richards Memorial Bursary Award – Reuben Hesser
Player of the Year – Andrew Hammett
Players Player (as voted by the playing members) – Neil Pascoe
Bandsperson of the Year – Scott Allen

Owing to the pandemic, no awards will be presented for this calendar year, however, special dispensation has been given to present the ‘Bandsperson of the Year’ award for 2020. Awarded by Darren Hawken, he deemed Neil Pascoe as the recipient of this well-deserved award.

We sadly had to say goodbye to our Principal Trombone player ‘Andrew Hammett’ who relocated to Gloucester to start his new career earlier this year. Andrew’s brother James also made the decision to take a break from playing. Both Andrew and James will be sorely missed as members of the band and we’d like to thank them and their hardworking family for everything they did during their time with the band.
