The sad passing of Ronald T Craddock – A stalwart of St Dennis Band
Ronald T Craddock
Percussionist and St Dennis supporter
St Dennis are saddened to learn of the recent passing of Mr Ron Craddock, born, resident and long term associate of our band over many decades.
A gentleman well remembered for his skills as drummer and music librarian with the band throughout the 1960’s and 70’s, Ron was a much respected and popular member who maintained a busy working relationship serving the band subsequently by holding a succession of voluntary offices on our working committees and funding events.
Together with his wife, Shirley, always keen supporters at concert and
contest venues, they were a devoted couple celebrating memorable joint 80th birthdays with friends and family in our bandroom in 2015 and a diamond anniversary in 2019.
Despite encountering more challenging health over the last few years, as a life vice president and executive committee member, we have continued to enjoy the benefit of Ron’s common sense approach and experience in support of our organisation that extended to a wide knowledge of the brass band scene generally.
The funeral service, subject to current social protocols, will be in St Dennis Cemetery at 11.00 am on Thursday 8th October for immediate family.
Our sincere condolences go out to Shirley, Garry, Mark, Carol, Philip and their families at this time and the band will no doubt, hope to mark a celebration and our appreciation for the life of Ron in due course.
